Every project at PAVERART tends to have a back story with our clients: A real reason why they want a special design to be part of their home.
The custom Compass Rose Story was told in a past post and zoom video call which can be found here:
This design celebrates a lifetime of service and it's a thrill when we can help bring it to life. Some designs in our shop have that special "Wow Factor" where people stop and gather around to admire the outcome. This was certainly one of those, with custom engraving, great color combos and designs within the design.
Recently, I was blown away when Joe and Kellie took the time to put together a "Letter of Appreciation" addressed to the entire team at PAVERART, complete with gorgeous installation pics of their Custom Compass Rose, Joe, Kellie and of course their amazing pups Canyon and Parker!

Joe & Kellie's Letter of Appreciation (Shared With Permission)
Dear Mark, Mike, Brian, Dom, Nick, Jonathan, Matthew, Juan and Eduardo …
… “aka Paverart”!
Kellie and I can’t thank you enough for creating an outstandingly beautiful compass
rose to commemorate my 25-year career with the United States Coast Guard. Thanks to Paverart’s collaborative process with Brian and Dominic we created a unique compass rose that included an engraved Coast Guard logo in the center, plus the engraved names of eight Coast Guard units I was stationed at throughout my career.
Everything about the compass rose is personally meaningful and symbolic of my
service: the rope bands represent my time at sea, the colors represent those of the
Coast Guard and United States, the stars represent my patriotic service in one of the
United States Armed Forces, and the engraved unit names show the order of places
where I was stationed throughout the U.S.
We are tremendously grateful for the continuous support we received from everyone
at Paverart to make our project a reality. The compass rose is the literal centerpiece of the outdoor transformation of our home over the past few years.
We are grateful to be among those who take pride in adding a unique product known as “Paverart.” For us, it’s not just about adding art to our home, but proudly sharing a lifetime of service with friends, family and visitors.
Gratefully,
Joe, Kellie, Canyon and Parker
Projects that go right need to be the norm to survive over the long-run. You simply need MANY more hits than misses to survive. So great outcomes NEED TO BE the norm, and that's not easy. Nor is it a given. AT PAVERART, I think we are good and continuing to get better at this standard, and 22 years in business can't happen by dumb luck.
But GREAT businesses have a habit of being REMARKABLE.
They have a burning desire to understand beyond the transaction why they are called upon, so they can over-deliver.
There is a level of caring, internally and externally not often seen in the world, touching every person in the business.
There is a feeling of transparency and integrity that cuts throughout the business.
I think the ART of Service: Old School, pick up the phone, responsive customer service that is worth telling others about..........is rare and becoming MORE rare. It's the feeling of a GREAT business. This is what we aspire to become and work towards at PAVERART.
I've often wondered, "How do you know you are getting closer to building a GREAT business?"
FOP's Become Commonplace.
FOP?
FRIENDS OF PAVERART.
People that we stay in touch with (and vice versa) Beyond the Transaction. FOP.
This past fall I talked about THE QUEST FOR BEYOND talking about a Public Arts Project in Sacramento. It was a challenging trip, fighting the weather and tons of other challenges, but it was the START of what our future looks like and what is needed to build a GREAT business. One that celebrates the people around us that make our business come to life. Celebrating the champions that ignite change and bring ART to the world.
In that post, there were some photo collages.......36+ photos compiled in Sacramento. ONE of those pictures hops off the page, makes the trip extra special and puts a smile on my face.
