PAVERART is entering our 22nd year in business. Each year we update our client materials and add what's new, showcase projects of distinction and celebrate all we are proud of. Our challenge is keeping the file sizes down to manageable levels, lots to share and file sizes get too big!
This year we worked extra hard on our ENGRAVING portfolio. While we have been in this business for 22 years, 15 of those 22 years we've had a love/hate relationship with Engraving. Why?
Our flagship "PAVERART" business was founded on a very simple premise: BUILT TO LAST + Wow Factor. Our first project in Wildwood NJ came about because multiple decorative intersections did NOT last, they broke down after < 2 years. That opened the door to the creation of PAVERART, our first job. Those intersections still exist, looking great and that origin story guides our work today.
Engraving on the other hand did NOT have that characteristic, a wide majority of concrete engraving is spray painted, and like those originally decorative intersections, ALL PAINT BREAKS DOWN, not if, but WHEN.
So, it's hard to talk "Built To Last" for one business, while having the opposite for the other.
UNTIL 6 years ago.....
Now we use our ECO-Fill Method. Think of it like black cement being pushed into deeply engraved letters. Incredibly durable. Not perfect, but the best method to highlight sand-blasted letters. Spray paint is easier and faster. But we like durability, and clients recognize this too.
Job 1?
Perfecting the manufacturing process, dramatically improving durability. This gave us a reason to believe in our engraving business, but other challenges also had to be solved.
Job 2?
Investment in SPACE & Team. We've done that, opening up a dedicated facility 2 years ago, so now PAVERART can breathe, and engraving can breathe. Our team has gelled and they have the trust of those around them.
Sometimes in life you need to separate in order to bring things back together.
Job 3?
Develop NEW capabilities. LASER Engraving is pretty common, but it can only be done on clay pavers for the world of fundraising. Clay represents a fraction of the world's hardscaping products compared to concrete, so quite frankly, we disregarded it. But truth be told, that was short-sighted and we made the investments required to provide laser-engraved bricks and other laserable items. So if clients want laser engraved product we are happy to make it.
And maybe the most important?
Job 4.
Mindset! Embracing what makes us unique and unlike any other company.
The realization that the HARD, dare I say nearly impossible designs in the world of hardscaping can be realized by combining both PAVERART and custom engraving. The willingness to say YES to the hard. To do jobs few can imagine, let alone execute. Heavy slabs. Tight spaces. Crazy Cuts. Puzzle pieces, movement, co-ordination, teamwork.
And of course, anchoring Fundrasing and Memorial jobs with not only engraving, but engraving + PAVERART. Because they go together like peas and carrots! (Thank you Forest Gump!)
